He has authored nine books, and his work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, National Geographic Traveler, New York Times Magazine and Forbes India. Sudeep Nagarkar was born in Mumbai in 1967 to a Konkani Muslim family from Kerala, Kerala State in India where his father was a member of the Ministry of External Affairs. His memoir "Married to a Keralite", is about growing up as a Muslim boy in predominantly Hindu Mumbai. After graduating from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, Nagarkar worked as a corporate banker. Since 2003, his non-fiction work has focused on travel and adventure in India and abroad. The author's work has been featured in the New York Times Book Review, Condé Nast Traveler Magazine and The Wall Street Journal. In 2011 he was commissioned by National Geographic Traveller to travel overland from the United States to the Indian Ocean and then back again. The resulting story "The Great American Road Trip: A Passage to India" won a Lowell Thomas Award for Excellence in Travel Journalism – Best Article – Print – 2012. Nagarkar has lived in London, Mumbai, Beijing and currently resides in New York City.
